Apple has renewed its range of iPhone this September 10. The iPhone 11 is the successor to the iPhone XR, but it remains in the catalog of Apple. To make your choice, here is a detail of the differences between the two smartphones.
Apple’s product catalog has been revamped, removing iPhone X, XS and XS Max. So we find the three new iPhone 11, but also the iPhone XR. Let’s go back to the differences between the 2018 LCD iPhone and the 2019 LCD.

From a technical point of view, Apple has very little extended the characteristics of its new smartphones, but the Apple A12 Bionic gives way to the A13 Bionic. The Neural Engine (the chip dedicated to artificial intelligence) has also evolved, but the details on this subject remain reduced for the moment.
A design with an apple close
In terms of design, the iPhone XR and the iPhone 11 finally change very little. Both retain the same dimensions of 150.9 x 75.7 x 8.3 mm for 194 grams, with a slab a priori identical to 6.1 inches. On paper, there is no difference:

So Apple recycles its components, but the back cover still has some differences with a square photo module at the back contained in a glass square, housing a dual camera, and a logo now centered to maintain a general harmony and avoid an overload on the top of the device.
Note also that the iPhone XR is IP67 (resistant to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes), while the iPhone 11 is IP68 (resistant to 2 meters deep for 30 minutes).
The camera: the biggest change
The iPhone XR has a single 12 megapixel sensor coupled to a lens opening at f / 1.8. To this, the iPhone 11 adds a second 12-megapixel sensor surmounted by an ultra-wide-angle opening at f / 2.4 (field of view of 120 °). This second lens is however composed of 5 elements instead of 6 and does not have optical stabilization.

Note that Apple speaks of “optical zoom x2” for the iPhone 11. This “zoom” is however counted from the ultra-wide angle, itself offering a focal length divided by two.
However, software processing has been improved to improve subject recognition and thus focus. The portrait mode is also winning because the clipping should be improved and that animals can now be captured in this way (where on the iPhone XR portrait mode was only available on humans).
Let’s add that as on the Pixel 3, Apple has added a night mode to its iPhone 11. This mode is activated automatically in low light conditions and can take pictures even without a flash when the light is running out.
For video capture, the base remains the same: 4K at 60 fps, slow motion at 120 or 240 fps in Full HD and optical stabilization (on the main module). The iPhone 11 nevertheless gains an “audio zoom” focusing on the sound at a specific location during a zoom, and the QuickTake function to launch faster video capture.
Finally, the front sensor goes from 7 MP on iPhone XR 12 MP on the iPhone 11, always with an opening f / 2.2. This module also becomes capable of shooting in 4K up to 60 fps.
More autonomous, more connectivity
It will be necessary to wait until the iPhone 11 is disassembled to know very precisely the capacity of its battery, but Apple promises a greater autonomy of one hour compared to the iPhone XR. This concerns the autonomy in local video playback. The 18 W adapter to quickly charge the smartphone is sold separately.
The iPhone 11 also gains connectivity with WiFi 6, Gigabit LTE and Ultra-Wideband chip for better GPS location of the smartphone indoors.
Cheaper than launch, but still more expensive
The iPhone 11 is sold at $809, $50 less than the iPhone XR at launch. The latter however falls in price and goes to $709.
